How to remove a PDF password

  1. 1. Choose the PDF

Drop a password-protected PDF or pick one from your device. Files stay on your machine — nothing is uploaded.

  2. 2. Enter the password

If the file is locked, enter the password. It is used only in your browser to open the file and is never sent anywhere.

  3. 3. Download the unlocked copy

We rewrite the PDF without encryption and hand you a clean download that opens without a password.

Frequently asked questions

Need the transaction table out of a bank statement instead?

Does my PDF leave my device?

No. Unlocking runs entirely in your browser with the same client-side library we use for bank statements. The locked file, the password, and the unlocked copy never touch our servers.

What kinds of password protection work?

Standard PDF user-password encryption works. Owner-only restrictions (print/copy locks without an open password) are removed automatically — no password needed. Unusual or proprietary protection schemes may fail — if so, you will see an error rather than a broken file.

Is the password stored?

No. It exists only in memory while your browser opens the file, then it is discarded. We never receive it.

What if the PDF is not password protected?

You will be told there is nothing to remove. You can still download a copy if you want one.
